The darkness was suffocating. Heartravon could barely breathe as she padded clumsily down the path to Lizu's Labryinth. Her violet gaze flickered wildly around for any speck of light that could possibly light the path under her paws. Nothing. The moon was completely eclipsed by the thick canopy above, so the forest was lost in a shroud of shadows. Her dark pelt melted in with the pitch like the heat of a fire melted anything it touched. To her, that was a good thing. She was completely lost in the darkness, so no one could find her. That provided the femme with a minimal comfort. The utter blackness still frightened her as much as being this alone did.

Her dainty frame slowly padded down the path, her small paws tripping on anything that wasn't flat. Her ears were pinned back to her skull as she slunk along, gaze still quickly moving back and forth, back and forth. It was like her own irrational fears consumed her all the time. Fear is only in our minds, taking over all the time. A shiver rocked Heartravon's frame as an unusually cold zephyr swept the landscape, rising up to chill the trees with its presence. The she-wolf let a soft whimper escape her lips before continuing on. Almost there, almost to the labryinth. Light would be there, the moon casting its contents upon the earth, flooding the clearing. That was all she wanted. Light in a world of suffocating darkness.

A few whimpers, and a stumble later, Heartravon found herself quietly padding into the clearing of Lizu's Labryinth. What she saw almost took her breath away.

The moon was present, hanging in the sky, its luminous face shining full upon the earth. The newfound moonlight revealed to her violet gaze a waterfall, glimmering in the stark light. Many trees stood tall here, some of them shedding their leaves as the night wind lumbered by. Heartravon was no longer frightened, but awed. Slowly, quietly, cautiously, she started into the clearing, head down in a submissive position as she surveyed the land. Might as well stop for a drink while she was here. Her pace was less cautious now, for it was more like an easy lope as she approached the small lake and the waterfall that cascaded down the cliff.

Heartravon crouched down to the water's surface, her violet eyes blinking as her reflection shimmered just out of her reach. The moon was swimming here with her in the pool also, slightly distorted by the water. For a brief moment, a small smile graced Heartravon's visage as she leaned down closer to the water, her long maw barely touching the wet surface. Curious, the she wolf delved into the water a bit deeper, causing her reflection to distort and scatter right before her eyes. This caused Heartravon's smile to vanish in an instant. Heartravon spoke in her usual haunting, yet beautifully soprano tone.

"Even my own reflection runs away from me? Am I really that repulsive?"


The she-wolf craved an answer. Was she? Was she really that displeasing? The hoot of an owl nearby echoed through the trees, the sound of a croaking bullfrog added to the melody. Crickets chirped loudly from all sides. It was like music, to Heartravon. The pretty femme's ears perked up to listen to the music of the night. It was a wonderful song that made the smile flit across Heartravon's maw once more. With a small sigh, she turned back to the water's surface, seeing her reflection once more.

"You've returned."

Heatravon was confused when her reflection appeared right before her eyes once more. How did it do that...? The she-wolf didn't have time to dwell on her thoughts because a bubbly, highpitched voice shattered her concentration. "Hey Heartravon..." The tone of the voice made her slink down into a submissive position. This was Serenity, a gamma here in the pack. She was of higher rank, and therefore, Heartravon felt it her duty to show her respect. "You think you're shadow runs from you? Whoa, me too! I mean, I think it's just 'cause I'm so breath-takingly beautiful, but it's got to be more than that! I have an awesome personality too, duh!"

Heartravon slowly rose from her crouching position, to a stance. The omega dared not to look the gamma in the eyes. "Uhm..." Heartravon started, her soprano voice quiet and low. How was she supposed to answer that? Heartravon's ears perked up. She wanted to hear the music again, but Serenity's presence scared the creatures away. Now despondent, Heartravon glanced over to Serenity.

"You followed me." She murmured. Not angrily, she was just stating the fact. Heartravon didn't notice before. Probably because she was too scared to notice anything.
